Background.
VJ Wiring was founded in 1996 by the current managing director Virgil DeCastro. Castro built his foundations in this industry back in 1969 when he worked at ‘STC Telecommunication’ as a charge hand. He held this position until 1978. During this time he developed skills working from wiring schedules, wiring telephone exchange, forming terminations, bell testing, modification, IDF and MDF.

From 1978-1986 Castro was employed as a charge hand at ‘Primat Personal Service.’ Here, he developed skills wiring British Rail signalling systems, running cables, Krone block and modification.

In 1986 Castro moved to ‘The Moving Picture Company’ as a wireman. Castro continued using his experience working from wiring schedules but it was here Castro began to gain knowledge of working in and wiring digital suites, editing suites and telecine control rooms.

1987 saw Castro take his skills and knowledge to ‘Carlton Television’ as a wireman. Here, Castro’s duties were wiring the control room, sound room, OB truck and VT truck.

1988 Castro moved to ‘TVi’ as a wireman. Using his expertise to wire telecine control rooms, transmission suites, sound rooms, editing machine rooms and master control rooms.

In 1994 Castro became self-employed. In the early part of this transition Castro exchanged contracts with ‘Arion Communications’ where he undertook a complete installation of a facility compromising of 3 telecine suites, 25 VTR’s and associated machine rooms. Further projects followed with Telefilm Video Services, Cinesite, Video Engineering, and Sunrise Post Production. Following this success in 1996 VJ Wiring was officially established.
